Permit me one political post…Please

April 28th, 2009 No comments

We get so much political spin from so many agendas it’s almost impossible to work out where the truth lies!

In this video of US congressman Ron Paul, I think we get closer to the truth than anything I have heard. It’s only a few days old, watch it here… Dr Ron Paul

Let me know what you think.

Post Ankle Surgery Progress!

April 27th, 2009 No comments

Steve is impressed with the progress of his ankle. Here are some of his comments:

“I haven’t had any painkillers from about 4 days after the surgery”

“I’ve broken legs before and I got back on the bike sooner than expected each time, but not this soon could I hold weight on an ankle after the actual crash and then surgery only 2 weeks ago”.

“The only thing I’ve done differently with this broken ankle is the use of Q-Magnets. It’s really starting to show how well physio and magnets work!”

The Inner Life of the Cell

April 22nd, 2009 No comments

This video shows the cutting edge of education and how Harvard Medical School are educating their future doctors. It’s an animated/simulated film of the inner workings of a cell.

Here is the original from Harvard.

This is the video on YouTube with an explanation of what’s going on. If you think you know something about molecular biology, watch the top one first and see how much you can recognise.

This is a remarkable video for two reasons…

Kraft Chicken In a Biskit – They call it food!!

April 19th, 2009 5 comments

When certain things pop up that motivate me to take the time to comment, then I post a blog. I had one such occasion this evening. The kids came home with some food stuff for their school lunches – they went with Mum of course! Well, they came back with Kraft, Chicken In a Biskit. They know that we NEVER buy Kraft (Philadelphia Cream Cheese being the only seldom exception) but their usual 20 pack Arnotts Shapes were out of stock.

I have scanned the ingredients for you so you can see what’s in them. It should be illegal to call this stuff food, let alone feed it to kids. Firstly you will notice that the first three ingredients are some of the biggest scourges in our highly processed nutrient poor western diet. And look, they call it oven baked as if that’s got to be good for you – well at least, I guess, it’s not deep fried!

Alcohol – Love it or hate it?

April 19th, 2009 No comments

We have some good friends who like a drink, but they call Monday-Thursday their AFD or alcohol free days. I thought this was a great idea and something we now work on. There are a number of alcohol free beverages that you can use as a substitute to replace that relaxing feeling of having a nice red wine or beer with the evening meal . Pomegranate juice is one we often use, not the cheap one you find in the supermarket made from concentrate, but you can find some very good ones sold at green grocers.

Why not enjoy a pomegranate juice or something similar with the evening meal 3-5 nights per week and if needed, teach yourself to take comfort in things other than health destroying stimulants such as alcohol, cigarettes and processed, fatty foods. Click pomegranate-juice-magazine-scan-low-res to see an excellent article on Pomegranate from the Life Extention magnzine.

As this article from a pro wine site shows, even the French are beginning to question the regular consumption of alcohol. I have long been suspicious of the media’s bias in the health benefits assigned to red wine. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy a glass of red just as much as anyone, but there are plenty of other ways to consume the antioxidants and Resveratrol contained in red wine without having to take in the alcohol. I think the media placates our guilt as we eagerly buy into the latest report stating the health benefits of red wine. It helps us justify our consumption in that at least it’s good for us, but most of us would think again if we were honest with ourselves. But then there is the much maligned alcopops and beer and the heavier spirits which are by far the bigger concern and to make matters worse I don’t even think their manufacturers have a case to put forward regarding any of their inherent health benefits.

Just look at some of the facts when it comes to alcohol

Broken ankle – Faster fracture healing

April 16th, 2009 No comments

Steve fractured his ankle in 3 places after an accident while practicing a freestyle trick a few weeks ago. Steve had surgery and a titanium (non-magnetic) screw was inserted to hold the ankle stable. We treated his ankle for the first time today. Steve is unable to weight bear and has very limited range in the ankle. We have placed 3 magnets on the ankle to aid swelling reduction, bone healing and pain.

Talks by cardiologist Dr Ross Walker

April 10th, 2009 13 comments

Dr Ross Walker is a highly respected cardiologist by anyone who has an understanding on health and wellbeing and the inadequacy of our current system.

I purchased these talks from a group that no longer exists so I presume there are no longer any copy right issues.

These messages from Dr Walker are gold, I would highly recommend anyone that has an interest in their health (which should be all of us) to listen to them.

You can see Dr Walker’s website here

The whiter the bread, the quicker you’re dead – excellent very old audio recording

April 9th, 2009 No comments

I enjoyed this tape so much, I finally got around to buying an analogue converter to convert my old audio tapes to mp3 and it worked a treat. The recording is called the Great Grain Robbery and as you will hear, it must be from the 1970’s.

Listen to the talk here…
