About jabez house

The name Jabez House was inspired by the best selling book, The Prayer of Jabez by Bruce Wilkinson. Principal physiotherapist and clinic founder Dianne Hermans was inspired by the message of the prayer and so chose the name.

Jabez is a Hebrew name that means pain. The reference to Jabez is found in the Old Testament; 1 Chronicles 4: 9-10.

Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother named him Jabez saying, "Because I bore him with pain". Now Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, "Oh that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my border, and that Your hand might be with me, and that You would keep me from harm that it may not pain me!" And God granted him what he requested.

So Jabez is a great metaphor for the services provided by Lifestyle Therapies as although it means pain, Jabez's call to God was that he would not cause pain. The practitioners at Lifestyle Therapies are highly skilled in treating pain and brining life and hope to patients who have suffered from chronic and/or debilitating pain.

Jabez House was originally built by Mr & Mrs Aberdeen in the early 1950's and then was on 12 acres. Mr Aberdeen was a lecturer in botany at the University of Queensland and incidentally was a lecturer of Dianne Hermans's father, Robert Brinsmead.

Mr Aberdeen used to grow vegetables on the property and sell them to local community. The following are some photos of the house in the early years.
